Lift Them Up
Every day, individuals living with Angelman syndrome face challenges most can’t imagine.
With your support, they don’t face them alone.
Meet the Heffner Family
After genetic testing confirmed Mikaela had Angelman syndrome, her mom, Joy, found the Angelman Syndrome Foundation community and never let go. She traded advice with other parents in the hardest moments, like the terrifying first time Mikaela had a seizure and Joy didn't yet know what she was looking at. ASF sent Mikaela her first adaptive car seat.
This summer, Joy brought her family to the ASF Family Conference for the first time. "We just felt so welcome," she says. "Like we could walk around and not have to explain our loved one... everyone just helps out everybody." For a few days, the isolation that had defined so much of her journey simply wasn't there. It had been lifted.
Your support to "Lift Them Up" means funding the ASF Clinics, the groundbreaking research, the conferences, the car seats, and the community that turned Joy's fear into belonging.
